Laurie from «Sew Exhausted” just invited us all to join her in the “Seamless Pledge” (http://sewexhausted.wordpress.com/2013/01/25/i-pledge-allegiance/ ). This means that we for the next 6 months will make all our own clothes. We won’t buy anything new (ready to wear garments) except undergarments. I would also add shoes, because I know that I need new ones and I cannot make them. But I promise not to buy anything I really do not need.
So, I guess this is my official pledge, that for the next 6 months I will join this fine group of sewers. I will make my clothes and recycle when I can.
That wasn’t hard at all. I have made most of my clothes for a while anyway as well as lots of things for my kids. I am not a person who goes on trips to shop. I hate waste in general. This means that I like the idea of recycling, making the most of what I have. Of course there are things we need, but just increasing awareness around the effects consumption in itself has on the world is worthwhile. It is nice to make beautiful things, enjoy the art of life and the things you make. There are so many great designs out there and a lot of fun fabric, so go for it!

Yay!!! So happy you have joined us! I did forget that I will still buy my shoes. I can’t make mine either!
It is kind of exciting making a pledge like this. And I am excited about the challenge of MAKING what I want!
