I just finished a skirt. It is relatively short, but I will be wearing nice “decent” leggings under it, so it doesn’t matter. It is nice and soft, made from stretch corduroy. I actually bought the fabric many years ago, by post order. I was shopping on sale on the internet; this is one of the fabrics I bought. When I got it I was not quite sure I liked it. The color is a little “scary” and it was quite bulky. I did not know what to do with it. I have thought about making a tunic, but never got that far.
So now I finished a skirt and I will continue today making a jacket. I am thinking of all my nice “sewcialist” friends out there. I am so happy you are out there. Thanks to all of you for sharing your projects and other sewing thoughts. I am so inspired by all of you. I have seen you make such nice skirts lately and you do such a great job. I want to be like you and make nice skirts too!!!!
I should probably underlined the skirt so I could make a nicer invisible hand sewn hem…. But I am happy with the skirt anyway. 🙂 The next skirt will be underlined 🙂
Craftsy.com is one of my favorite places on the internet. It is great to be able to learn and to have the resources to do so. They are also part of the reason my sewing is improving. All of us are in such different stages of our lives and our situations might be different from one another, but we all LOVE SEWING. You are all great!
I went to the fabric store and looked for fabric I could use to make matching leggings. It was not easy to find anything I liked. I ended up getting the only fabric that actually had a tint of color in it matching my fabric. BUT OH WHAT A PRINT!!! I decided to get it anyway and let this be a challenge. I have let the swirls in the leggings be the theme of this project. You can probably guess where the idea for the bead “swirl” on my skirt came from.
Now I will get to work on my jacket. It is sort of exciting isn’t it seeing things take shape.
Happy sewing 🙂
